LMM~ Lutheran Men in Mission

"Building Men for Christ"

The Purpose of Lutheran Men in Mission (LMM) is to bring you together in Christian fellowship with other men in our congregation.

Our LMM Mission Statement says we are Lutheran men dedicated to the mission of building ourselves into spirit-filled temples and building the world in which we live into a city of God, whose foundation in Christ and whose building materials are faith, love and peace.

A Sample of the many activities LMM is involved in throughout the year include the following:

  • Reformation Day festival
  • Father-daughter and son events
  • Fellowship retreats
  • Annual Yard Sale
  • Leadership Endowment Fund
  • Sharing & Caring
  • Project Graduation
  • Bible Study

Our Objective is to get you involved in an existing LMM activity which interests you and we also hope will stir up ideas for new activities Please Join Us at our next LMM breakfast, at 7:30am, the 3rd Saturday of each month. (calendar)

Great deals abound at the annual yard sale held each spring on a Saturday.  The week before the sale parishioners bring in their donated items.  The sale averages approximately $6,000 each year in support of the LMM Leadership Endowment Fund and several WELCA projects.

WELCA~ Women of the ELCA

Women of the ELCA (WELCA) are the women's organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. As one of the units of the church, WELCA is no longer an auxiliary but an integral part of and partner in the ministries at home and around the world.

The Congregational Unit of St. Paul Lutheran Church is a member of the Florida-Bahamas Synodical Women's Organization, and we are in the Panhandle Conference, which extends from Pensacola to Tallahassee.

Purpose Statement

As a community of women, created in the image of God Called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, We commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, society, and the world.

Projects

St. Paul Women of the ELCA are involved in collecting various items for several different organizations, including Lutheran Wold Relief (LWR), Sharing & Caring, Inc., Hope House in Crestview (a Teen Shelter), Shelter House in Ft. Walton Beach (a Safe House for Women & their Children), Global Health Mission and Hospice. Collection boxes are located in the Narthex. Some of the projects are:
  • Soap Box- you can donate bars of soap in their wrappers for Lutheran World Relief
  • Health & Personal Care Items- WELCA collects personal care items to be given to the needy.
  • WELCA Gift Shop- Help support our various mission projects.
  • LWR Quilts- Quilting Extravaganza's are held quarterly to tie quilts for Lutheran World Relief to be sent to the needy worldwide. And, "Opportunity Quilts" are offered occasionally to benefit various needs in our church community.
  • Prayer Shawl Ministry- March 2007, WELCA began a new Prayer Shawl Ministry, and it has been extremely successful!   Take a look at the Prayer Shawl Angel in the Gathering Room to see all the recipients of our shawls, who have been wrapped in the warmth of these shawls that are filled with our caring, love and prayers.  They have comforted individuals during times of serious illness, in their last days of life, and during difficult and trying times in their lives. Each shawl has been received as a blessed gift.
  • Cell Phones: We are collecting old cell phones to provide lasting solutions for poverty and climate change. A collection box in the Garden Narthex.
  • Campbell Soup Labels: We collect Campbell product labels for the White Sands School for special needs children in Fort Walton Beach.  The labels are used to purchase computers.  There is a basket in the Garden Narthex where we collect the labels (and other items for Sharing and Caring.)

The Deborah Circle meets at 6:00pm on the 3rd Tuesday of the month in the Parish Hall. (calendar) Bring a brown bag dinner and join us for fellowship, Bible study and discussion.  During the summer months we meet at a local restaurant for food and fellowship.

XYZ ~ Extra Years of Zest

XYZ is an auxiliary organization of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Each confirmed member over the age of 50 is automatically a member of XYZ and is encouraged to participate.

THE PURPOSE of Extra Years of Zest is to bring the "young at heart" together for fellowship through potluck lunches, field trips, and special programs of interest.

Over the years some of our field trips included:
  • The Dead Sea Scrolls exhibition in Mobile
  • The Zoo in Gulf Breeze
  • The Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola
  • Eden State Park
  • Chattauqua Winery Tour
  • Daily News Tour
TWO OF OUR PROJECTS are the distribution of Thanksgiving Food Baskets in November and Christmas Food Baskets in December to 10 to 15 needy families in Niceville. Sharing and Caring provides the names of the families. With contributions from the congregation we provide the meat and all the fixings for a turkey and ham dinner and gifts for the children at Christmas.

WE MEET the 3rd Monday of the month, September through May, at 12 noon for a potluck lunch and program. In the case of a field trip, we go out for lunch. (
